Minutes to Midnight

It’s been a topsy-turvy year in an upside-down world, hasn’t it? So busy doing nothing, I could almost die laughing, if things weren’t so deadly serious. It’s the middle of the week and the end of the year – all the online places I stalk are busy coming up with best of the decade lists. Though it really isn’t the end of decade, unless you want it easy and I like being a pedant too much to ever like it easy (so 2010-2019 is not the decade, 2011-2020 would be). Plus I am a little fever-ish, scratchy throats and hot eyeballs – it’s all shaping up quite nicely. Medicine would be nice, something that knocks you a little sideways and gets a minor (or not so minor) buzz going.

It’s been a weird year overall for me, been feeling a little unsure about work and I am never good with changes, ones that sneak up and catch you unaware. Anywho, it’s been an year since I wrote last and it’s way past time. I don’t want to write about that though, about marking time and missing it and its weird, not finding time to do things that you care about. Let’s take a look at maybe putting a couple of year end posts together – a best of the year one perhaps? A state of the union address too, come to think of it. Getting an year older is no fun either, I am back to wearing glasses (no power but I stare at the screens too much as it is). It feels different but you get used to them again pretty easily and I wore them for near enough 20-odd years. And I chose smart frames too, I think I look like my grandfather (and I do like that). And it’s about making the pieces work as long as you can, isn’t it?

Anyway, that’s where I leave. Thinking about options and remembering things. And maybe someone will read about it and that's enough.

U2 was in town - and I couldn't miss it. I think they are one of the all time greats and I know all the songs (quite proud of that fact - and I know I can't carry a tune to save my life). A really good performance from them on one of my favorite songs, do give it a listen.

Hasta luego.
